Supermarkets start feeling pinch

Aside from the fact that the new ‘windfall taxes’ on extraordinary profits in the sector come into effect from tomorrow, supermarkets are starting to feel the pinch when it comes to supplies. Global supply chain issues have already seen “some products missing from the shelves”, say reports – citing particular problems with dairy products and eggs, and suggesting that rice, olive oil, animal feed – even spirits like whisky could be next.
