NAMED AFTER, and sponsored by well-known Portuguese beer brand, Super Bock, the Super Bock Super Rock XL festival is the first big rock event in Portugal’s music calendar this year and takes place in the Parque do Tejo, located in Lisbon’s Parque das Nações on May 25 and 26 and on June 7 and 8.
This year’s festival will be the 12th in the history of the event and will take place in two parts. The first, Act 1 (May 25-26) will include bands such as Tool, Placebo, Deftones, Korn, Within Temptation, Moonspell and Alice in Chains. The second, Act 2 (June 7-8) sees Franz Ferdinand, Keane, dEUS, Pharrell, 50 Cent, Patrice and Boss AC take to the stage.
Also on the bill this year, are the winners of Super Bock Super Rock Preload II, a competition for up-and-coming bands.
A one-day pass costs 38 euros, while a two-day pass costs 50 euros. Four-day passes are also available priced at 80 euros. Tickets can be purchased online at www.superbock.pt where you will also find full details of the festival.
