Salt grottos, which use a unique technique to cleanse and improve your skin and breathing, came to Portugal courtesy of Sungate.
The technique involves an application of a natural dry salt aerosol to cleanse and improve the health of your skin and breathing conditions while relaxing in an elegant and comfortable salt room.
The salt grotto would benefit all but specifically people with asthma, allergies and respiratory problems. The salt-concentrated air, it is claimed, also helps build up your immunity. The experience in the grotto is very relaxing as the interior is designed with that in mind.
Salt covers the walls and low atmospheric lighting and music is used to ensure clients are relaxed and comfortable.
Maria Burskaya of Sungate told the Algarve Resident: “Even if you are ill, you are still able to visit the salt grotto and get the benefits of the salt concentrated air. We also find most people will fall asleep during the session as it is so comfortable and relaxing.”
The company has salt grottos at two hotels in the Algarve – at the Hotel Balaia in Albufeira and the Hotel Porta Nova in Tavira – and is running many promotions throughout the summer.
“At the moment, the company is offering a 50 percent deduction until September. We also offer family packages where you only have to pay for one child,” Maria said. “Also, if you buy 10 sessions, you get two of those sessions for free.”
It costs 10 euros per session for an adult and five euros for a child and each session lasts for 40 minutes. The salt grottos are at Hotel Balaia Atlântico, 3rd floor, Urbanização Vale Navio Lote 101, Albufeira, open from 11am to 7pm, and the Hotel Porta Nova, Health Club, Rua António Pinheiro, Tavira, open from 11am to 7pm.
