Sun out for golf party

Floresta Park Golf Club held its Christmas competition at the end of last year and, to the delight of all, after the previously appalling weather, the sun shone on the 90 participants of the singles stableford competition on the course at Parque da Floresta. In all, 120 residents and golf club members attended the event finale and enjoyed a celebratory Christmas dinner. The party continued long after dinner and competition winners revelled in their triumphs as Golf Club Captain Jim Reid and Vice-Captain Ralf Griffin presented the prizes. Over 40 prizes were awarded, but the overall winner of the day was Chico Borges from Salema. Second prize went to Ivor Beresford, while third prize was presented to previous golf club captain Tony Nevison. Gillian Andrews and Jeannette Griffin won the Special Captains’ Prizes for Best Front and Back Nine. It’s been a busy time at Parque da Floresta. December 21 marked the 10th anniversary of the day that the Vigia Group took over the company. Vigia invested, updated and injected life into the resort and continue to improve and advance every single facility and standard. The Parque is barely recognisable as the failing golf development the company took over in 1993. The day was marked with an AM AM open golf competition, along with a special Charity Gala Dinner where all proceeds, from the competition and dinner, went to The Lagos Orphans Fund.
