Summer’s over: ‘time for new Covid jabs’

With ‘breaking news’ yesterday that transmission of SARS-CoV-2 in Portugal has one crept over the ‘ideal’ level of 1 (and news earlier in the week of a looming vaccination campaign targetting children) EMA – the European Medicines Agency – has today recommended authorisation of new mRNA vaccines adapted to Omicron. European health commissioner Stella Kyriakides has said in a statement: “We will now proceed with an accelerated authorisation of these vaccines to ensure that they can be rolled out quickly across the EU.” That is if people so wish, as countries are slowly coming round to the fact that these vaccines cannot be forced on populations.
