Week three of our Summer League and already we are a third of the way through the season.
The weather dawned bright and beautiful with a slight breeze for the morning matches, becoming very hot during the afternoon. However, a good day’s bowling took place both morning and afternoon.
Albufeira Wildcats won eight points from Floresta Falcons who won two points; Floresta Squirrels held onto two points from Valverde Vulcans who won eight points; Pedras Panthers took nine points from Alvor Egrets who won one point; Tavira Tigers won eight points from Alvor Kestrels who won two points, whilst Valverde Vikings were the top scoring team this week winning all 10 points from Balaia Dolphins.
The table has changed slightly with Tavira Tigers now at the top holding 26 points, followed closely behind with both Valverde Vikings and Valverde Vulcans chasing on 22 points each, whilst Pedras Panthers are also chasing on 21 points. Balaia Dolphins are the team holding up the league from the bottom on two points.
There is still time for everything to change at both the top and the bottom of the table.
This week’s games took place at Tavira County Bowling Club, near Santa Catarina. The lawn green was in beautiful condition and looked almost like a green carpet.
A credit to Joe Scott, the owner of Tavira County Bowling Club, who spends many hours maintaining his green in such good condition.
Again, Maggie Dance from Alvor Bowling Club was the Umpire for the day. Thanks to her and also to the kitchen and bar staff who kept more than 60 players and supporters fed and watered during the day. A tiring but thoroughly enjoyable day was had by teams and spectators.
