Summer League game at Balaia

Thursday, June 13 was beautiful and the venue was Balaia Golf Village for our Summer League game this week. The green was well prepared for the games, morning and afternoon. Though due to there being only four rinks available, the game between Albufeira Wildcats and Balaia Dolphins has been postponed until June 28 as many players from these teams were in Spain playing for the Frances Reynolds Touring team.

This week, however, Valverde Vulcans were the only team to score highly, taking all 10 points from Alvor Kestrels; Alvor Egrets won six points from Floresta Falcons winning four points; Tavira Tigers also won eight points from Valverde Vikings winning two points; whilst Floresta Squirrels took eight points from Pedras Panthers who won two points.

The Table has Valverde Vulcans pulling clear at the top with 49 points, Tavira Tigers chasing closely behind on 41 points and also close is Pedras Panthers on 40 points. Albufeira Wildcats and Balaia Dolphins have a game in hand over the other teams, so Balaia Dolphins appearing to be bottom of the table is slightly misleading. Still three weeks for things to change, both at the top and bottom of the league table. Thanks to the Balaia Golf Clubhouse for providing food and drinks for all the teams and supporters.

The Frances Reynolds Touring team were ‘Runners Up’ in this year’s competition, so unfortunately the ‘Cup’, which we brought back to the Algarve last year, has had to stay in Spain this year, meaning the team just have to return next year to retrieve it.
