Summer League matches were played at Tavira Bowling Club on a hot Thursday, June 22.
Tavira Tigers won the day taking all 10 points from Floresta Falcons. This keeps Tavira in the top slot in the league with Floresta dropping two places to fifth.
Alvor Kestrels won eight points against Valverde Vikings, taking the Alvor Kestrels into second place in the league. Alvor Egrets had a more even game against Valverde Vulcans with four points each, however Alvor take the extra two points on shot difference. This, unfortunately, means Valverde Vulcans drop a place to seventh in the league.
Balaia Dolphins won six points against Pedras Panthers, moving Balaia up another place to sixth place. However, Pedras Panthers are still in third place in the league, still snapping at the heels of Alvor Kestrel. The privilege of supporting the whole league remains with Valverde Vulcans. Still all to play for, but only two matches left to play.
In keeping with their fundraising activities Balaia Bowls Club are again having a big push to raise more funds for the Albufeira voluntary firefighters. After the success of the parachute jumps last year which raised over €5,000 and the recent donation of over €1,100 euros, the next event is a sponsored 24-hour bowling marathon on September 16 and 17.
Anyone wishing to make a donation or pledge should contact Richard King (Club Chairman) on mobile (00351) 935 367 492 or email [email protected]
Balaia welcomes bowlers of all levels and has its roll up on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9.45am for 10am start.
