Summer is Here

The season has officially started and, to mark the occasion, people from across the Algarve recently joined politicians at the Praia da Falésia/Rocha Baixinha Nascente, in Faro, to witness the beginning of the ‘Clean Algarve Beaches Operation’. Minister for the Economy, Carlos Tavares and the Secretary of State, Luís Correia da Silva, rolled up their sleeves and stepped in to help, alongside the many volunteers who had come to lend a hand in keeping beaches clean. The Tourism Institute (PIQTUR), Algarve Tourist Board (RTA), the Environmental Agency (POA) and local Câmaras have invested approximately five million euros in the ‘cleaning scheme’, which, complete with residue pick-up machines, grass cutters and tractors, will be distributed throughout 14 concelhos.
