With an elegant terrace affording stunning views of the pool and the ocean, settings like Vila Vita Parc’s Atlântico restaurant are few and far between. This summer, the five-star resort has a real treat in store for food lovers with its al fresco Summer Breeze Nights.
Every Thursday evening in July and August, this French/Mediterranean venue is offering a special three-course meal, with wine pairing, to the ambient sound of live music, courtesy of Ilze van Zanten.
Chef João Sousa creates a unique menu each week using the freshest produce available that same day, with fish and seafood a permanent staple.
Having teamed up with resident sommelier Artur Rodrigues to create the perfect wine arrangement, the first Summer Breeze evening began with a crisp 2007 Murganheira Brut Rosé. A 2012 Terras do Grifo Rosé accompanied the starter of medallion of blue lobster, apple/lime jelly, guacamole, curry mayonnaise and micro herbs – an exceptionally fresh, sweet starter that was perhaps the highlight of the menu – whilst a 2008 Quinta da Alorna red was a smooth match to the neck of black pork, potato and blue cheese foam, artichokes, thyme and mustard-seed sauce.
Finally, a sweet 2011 Pôpa Doce red complemented the dessert of cassis mousse, chocolate foam, yoghurt and lemon thyme ice cream.
Later, guests could move on to the Aladin Bar next door for after-dinner cocktails, with a DJ playing the best tracks from the ‘80s and ‘90s.
The three-course menu with wine pairing costs €79 (cocktails not included)
