I went, I saw, I dribbled. The 2008 Lisbon Motor Show at the Salão Automóvel, delivered stunning cars in all their beauty, with mirror paintwork, shiny chrome and the occasional stunning model draped over the bonnet.
The usual makes and models were on
display, including Lotus making an appearance with the Exige and Rolls Royce tying up with the BPI bank showing off the old and new side by side.
The new, completely revamped Fiesta was displayed on a plinth at the Ford stand – the Fiesta being the longest standing model in the Ford fleet (short of the Transit) proving the following of the little car is still strong.
Striking concept cars, lit up by lights and colour, showed the future of innovation and styling with particular attention paid to Seat with the Ginebra ’08 and Mitsubishi with the Concept CX.
The occasional WRC rally cars dotted the pavilions to enhance the visitors pleasure, most had a gaming console fitted in to entertain the younger dreamers at the show.
For me the star of the show was the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione – beautiful, stunning lines. The car was nice as well!
It just goes to show that Alfa Romeo despite the bad press they have had over the years, can design and make some incredible
