Almancil International Rotary Club (AIRC) and the Rotary Club of Loulé held their Autumn Festival on Sunday, November 11 at Escola EB2,3 in Almancil. In honour of São Martinho (St Martin), as well as fabulous home-made cakes, traditional roast chestnuts were on offer.
The school has a section teaching cooking and waiting skills to older students and these students provided traditional snacks and served on the many stalls including the hot dogs and burger stalls.
“The students were in complete charge of the coffee and soft drinks stall and did an excellent job” said AIRC President Volker Biebesheimer.
“They are a credit to the school and we are looking forward to working with them again in the near future,” he said.
“I would like to thank them and the staff of the school for all their hard work, which enabled us to take in excess of €1,300, which will be used to send Portuguese students on youth exchange trips to other countries in 2013”.
Music was provided free of charge by Martin Teutscher on the saxophone and Mario Spencer who sang and played guitar. Mario’s son João and his friends surprised everyone with a few rap numbers during the interval.
Altogether the event was a great success, helped by beautiful weather and a relaxed and friendly ambience.
