Unions in last-ditch talks over TAP Christmas strike

Strike || Unions in last-ditch talks over TAP Christmas strike

Today is another crucial day for national airline TAP. After a disastrous year marked by strikes, cancellations and spectacular technical faults, the airline seems on another collision course – with unions threatening a four-day festive walkout between Christmas and New Year.
The government has offered a working group to try and negotiate around all the issues, but it is adamant that privatisation is the only way forward.
Unions say not. Today is the day all parties are getting once more round the table. An answer is expected tomorrow. Says SIC TV, the 12 unions involved in the current strike threat will decide whether or not to pull the plugs on hundreds of flights between Saturday December 27 and Tuesday December 30.
