Residents in Alcantarilha in the Silves council are said to be outraged about the poor state of Rua das Palmeiras, where refurbishment work suddenly stopped in April.
This was due to an order by the Institute of Architectural and Archaeological Heritage (IGESPAR) because of archaeological remains found in the area.
Residents have submitted two petitions to Silves Câmara demanding the repeal of the embargo on the work so that it can be finished.
According to Silves Câmara, the work on the road has to wait until an archaeological survey is completed.
