Straightforward bureaucratic assistance in the Algarve

Alie Kotoun, originally from Holland, has lived in the Algarve for more than 20 years and offers clients in the region professional, efficient bureaucratic assistance.

With offices based near Alcantarilha, clients are able to drop in for advice or information before seeking further assistance from Alie.

Alie, who is fluent in Dutch, English, Portuguese and German, deals with all paperwork that residents may require. However, she specialises in vehicle documentation.

“The laws regarding vehicle import tax changed in January but are currently being looked at again. I am well known by the officials that deal with this sort of documentation and qualified to provide a quick, efficient service to clients,” she said.

Licence renewals

Another popular service provided by Alie is driving licence applications.

“This could be for someone who wishes to change their current non-Portuguese licence for Portuguese documentation or it could be for those who need to renew their licence as is the case every two years after you turn 70.”

Some paperwork required of residents in the Algarve is easier to obtain than others and it may be that you are able to do it yourself, said Alie: “I always advise clients of the best way to get documentation and if they can do it themselves, I tell them.”

Alie is constantly improving her customer services and Portuguese bureaucracy knowledge and is currently three years into a Portuguese law course.
