The number of vehicles travelling the A22 Via do Infante tolled highway has registered a straight slide for the last 33 months.
These latest figures released by the CCDR (commission for regional development) confirm that the tolls imposed in 2011 are guilty for the drop – which cannot possibly be explained any other way.
Nonetheless, all calls by politicians, business groups and citizens for abolition of the tolls have this far fallen on deaf ears. Meantime, traffic on the EN125 has increased exponentially.
