Still roughsleeping: Lisbon pensioners ‘reject’ three possibilities for permanent housing

A sad footnote following the national outcry over pensioners Maria José and Alberto. It seems that even after the intervention of President Marcelo, the duo has ‘rejected’ three options for permanent housing from the authorities and has, for now, stayed rough-sleeping near Lisbon’s Gare do Oriente. Tabloid Correio da Manhã says Santa Casa da Misericórdia will be seeking a legal regime through the courts tomorrow, giving them the right of  ‘greater accompaniment of the pensioners’ – suggesting the pair will be persuaded into sheltered accommodation whether they approve of it or not. CM admits the situation is confused by possible psychological problems
