Still rockin’ and rollin’ at 100… Portugal’s “switched-on” Vozes do Rock

They’re unlikely to become an overnight Youtube sensation, but they are a unique rock band nonetheless. Made up of seniors in various homes throughout Viseu, the oldest member is 95.

Vozes do Rock, as they call themselves, are available for parties and special functions throughout the area. The group was in the news this week after it performed at the birthday celebrations of 100-year-old Delfina Rosa de Jesus at the Lar Residência Viscondessa de S. Caetano.

Described as in “very good health”, Delfina was reportedly delighted to share her big day with rockin’ rollin’ peers – almost all of whom live themselves in local retirement homes.

As TSF radio reported, the band’s only prerequisite for aspirant members is advanced age. No one under the age of 60 will be considered.
