Still on the phone… police catch 786 drivers

In spite of all the warnings, police caught no less than 786 drivers on their mobile phones in a three day campaign, entitled “The phone can wait”, held between March 27-30. Using a mobile phone while driving is shown to increase the probability of an accident by four times. The 786 drivers were caught in a period in which 1,393 accidents were registered, involving three deaths in Viana do Castelo, Aveiro and Lisbon.
