The Portuguese association of heavy passenger transport companies has described as unacceptable today that, a month before the start of the World Youth Day event – to which over a million pilgrims are expected – there is still no approved mobility plan. This plan has nontheless been pledged by the government… for two weeks’ time. By then the capital will be on a countdown to the big day that is expected to bring such chaos in its wake that many residents living close to the riverside venue sites have already made plans to leave home and avoid the confusion.
