Former World Snooker Champion and avid golfer Steve Davis recently visited the Algarve to take part in a prize-giving at a golf presentation dinner at the Tivoli Hotel, Lagos. The star prize was a two-bedroom fully furnished apartment, with sea views, located in Estrela da Luz, offered for the raffle by resort developers, Oceânico Developments.
Financial consultant Chris Plumb was the lucky winner who, after investing in an apartment at the Vila Baia launch in Dublin’s Westin Hotel earlier this year, won the 300,000 euro luxury home in the western Algarve.
“I just cannot believe it. I’m almost speechless,” said a delighted Chris, when Steve Davis drew his winning number from a bag at the champagne reception and dinner. Chris, a financial adviser at Blacktower Financial Management, was one of 53 people who qualified for the raffle by purchasing an apartment from Oceânico.
He said: “I’ve worked in the money market for 25 years and like to take a gamble. Going in with Oceânico is the best thing I ever did. What they have achieved and contributed to the western Algarve, in such a short period of time, is nothing short of incredible. I had money tied up in property in the ‘golden triangle’ area at the other end of the Algarve, but when I saw what was going on at Oceânico Developments down here in the west, I decided to sell up and invest with them. Now I have two apartments for the price of one – fantastic.”
The presentation dinner, compered in fine style by comedian Willie Miller, was the culmination of the Vila Baia Golf Challenge, an annual event by the Anglo-Irish group Oceânico Developments. This saw 27 teams of 108 golfers – from Ireland, the UK and Portugal – compete on the picturesque Palmares course in Lagos.
More than 200 guests attended the dinner and among the celebrities was former Ireland and Liverpool football star John Aldridge, who, along with Steve Davis, has also invested in apartments by Oceânico Developments.
