The exciting news for Algarve golfers is that the First Stage of the Staysure Tour Qualifying School will take place over 36 holes at two separate qualifying venues – Silves Golf and Gramacho Golf Club at Pestana Golf Resort – on January 23-24.
The two fabulous courses located near Portimão will host the First Stage before Staysure Tour hopefuls, who will gain access to all full field events, will battle for the five cards available at Final Stage at the neighbouring Vale da Pinta Course from January 27-30, in what promises to be yet another memorable Algarve golfing occasion.
With the resurgence of over-50s golf, and so many famous names playing on the over-50s circuit, Staysure Tour Qualifying School are offering huge rewards to the skilled players who earn their 2020 Staysure Tour cards, as Head of the Staysure Tour, Mark Aspland, has explained: “The Staysure Tour Qualifying School has proven, year on year, to be a stern but rewarding test for competitors. At the beginning of each season, players continue to push themselves to claim one of the five Staysure Tour cards and, over recent years, the Qualifying School graduates have gone on to thrive during the season.
“Our thanks go to the teams at Silves Golf and Gramacho Golf Club for hosting the First Stage, and to Rui Gago and his team at Pestana for a fitting venue for the Final Stage of the Staysure Tour Qualifying School.
“Good luck to all competitors and we look forward to congratulating the successful five to the Staysure Tour in the New Year.”
Rui Gago, Golf Director at Pestana Golf Resort, has also recently described the established status of this international golfing event being staged in the Algarve: “During the last two decades, we have proudly been the host of the Staysure Tour Qualifying School at Pestana Pinta, Gramacho and Silves golf courses in the Algarve. It has been a tremendous pleasure to welcome both the competitors and the Staysure Tour team at our facilities. We have watched exciting golf brought to the courses by players from all over the world. It is very emotional and exciting to find out that some players attending the Qualifying School are in the Algarve for the first time.
“Good luck for all the players both in First Stage and Final Stage.”
Prestigious events like the latest Staysure Tour Qualifying School 2020 underline how the Algarve is recognised as a leading international golfing location, and that the future of golf in the region is extremely bright.
