Someone somewhere – or some people in some places- could be very happy to hear the government hasn’t a clue where at least 94 art works have gone, in spite of all the inquiries and effort put into finding missing cultural property recently. The inquiry into their disappearance has been archived, and culture minister Pedro Adão e Silva said today that “we have no additional information that allows us to make any ‘démarche’ in relation to those works”. The missing gems, from the so-called SEC collection, include engravings, drawings, paintings and sculptures by numerous contemporary names, Portuguese and otherwise.
