Secretary of State for Economy to attend event
Startup Portimão, the ‘business incubator’ created to help the development of new businesses and stimulate the entrepreneurial spirit in Portimão, will celebrate its sixth anniversary on Thursday, August 10.
The event will take place at Startup Portimão’s facilities at the Algarve International Racetrack (AIA) at 3pm and will be attended by business leaders and entrepreneurs as well as prominent figures like Paulo Pinheiro (CEO of Parkalgar/AIA), André Gomes (newly-appointed President of the Algarve Tourism Region), José Apolinário (President of the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission), and Álvaro Bila (Deputy Mayor of Portimão).
Luís Matos Martins (CEO of Territórios Criativos) will present figures pertaining to the incubator’s activities throughout the last six years, while at 5pm a presentation will be led by Sara Bonixe, founder and manager of Portugal By Food, a community of Portuguese producers dedicated to crafting the finest products from each region. Their efforts aim to “elevate domestically-produced foods and cultivate a fresh collective consciousness regarding consumption,” they say.
The closing session will be attended by Pedro Cilínio, Secretary of State for Economy, and Isilda Gomes, Mayor of Portimão. This will be followed by a tour of the local incubator’s facilities and a cocktail reception.
