Today was billed in the popular press as the start of a “horrible week” for former BES banking boss Ricardo Salgado, as he was “going to hear his destiny in two large judicial cases that involve his banking group and the EDP case”. Well, this first day was not in fact so horrible: the start of the final phase of a case that is now so old it will begin falling foul of judicial time limits was ‘postponed’, due to some defendants not having been notified to appear at the Monsanto court in Lisbon. We have yet to see what happens in the upcoming EDP case hearing.
