American stationery shop Staples will be opening a new store this Saturday (September 13) in Parchal, Lagoa, just across the street from Lidl supermarket.
The company says it invested €2 million to bring this new 1,200sqm store to life, which has its official opening scheduled for 9am.
Naming it its “Portimão-Lagoa store”, Staples will once again have an outlet in the Western Algarve – two years after a mysterious fire destroyed their store, along with six others, at Portimão’s former Retail Park.
At the time, more than 300 workers were left without a place to work.
Some were reassigned to other stores, while others lost their jobs for good.
In the meantime, yet another shopping mall is being built in central Portimão. Among stores due to open are Decathlon (sports store) and AKI (DIY goods) – both of whom lost prime sites in the Retail Park blaze.
