St Vincent’s Church welcomes Fr Rob Kean

The licensing of Father Rob Kean took place on May 11 at St. Vincent’s Church in Praia da Luz.

Despite over two years of interregnum, the church family continues to grow and the licensing of their new permanent priest, Father Robert (Rob) Kean was recently celebrated.

The service was led by the Archdeacon of Gibraltar, The Reverend Canon Geoffrey Johnston, with Father Mark Wilson, Chaplain of Central and Eastern congregations, Reader Bob Kelly and Padre Zé Manuel, Roman Catholic priest in Luz, in attendance.

Father Geoff said it was “indeed a day for celebration and joy at the new ministry of Father Rob”.

He said that Father Rob “had been called to be a shepherd in Luz” and, with the help of his congregation, he “can carry out God’s work within the chaplaincy”.

Father Rob said he is looking forward to the “journey” and that it is “a privilege to serve the community”.

After the service, celebrations continued over a glass of wine and canapés in the meetings room behind the church.

Father Rob, 52, grew up in Hackney, East London and is married to Angela, with whom he has two children, Sam and Sophie.

He has worked predominantly in IT for the 12 years leading up to ordination training and then ministry. His previous position was with the Witham and Villages Team Ministry, part of the Diocese of Chelmsford, Essex.
