Winner Peter James and runner-up Mary Keegan

St. Patrick’s Society Annual Putting Competition

On Friday, February 25, the St. Patrick’s Society of the Algarve hosted a fun putting competition and lunch at the Balaia Golf Club in Albufeira.

The event turned out to be very successful, as 43 members and friends of the Society took part on the day.

It was evident from the very start that people were greatly relieved and delighted to have the opportunity to engage socially again after the restrictions of Covid over the past two years.

The putting competition was hotly contested and a close-run event.

The winner of the coveted Helen Cafolla Trophy was Peter James with 37 strokes, with runner-up Mary Keegan, on 38, a mere one stroke behind.

After an excellent buffet lunch, some members, no doubt aided by the free flowing wine and led by Mixie Clarke on the accordion, contributed to a lively sing-song, culminating in a very enjoyable day for all present.

The St. Patrick’s Society organises several events, including walks and lunches, throughout the year and welcomes new members of any nationality.
