St. Patrick’s Day lunch in Carvoeiro

St Patrick’s Society of the Algarve host lunch in the Lighthouse restaurant in Carvoeiro

Thursday, March 17 was St. Patrick’s Day, and to celebrate Ireland’s national day, the St Patrick’s Society of the Algarve hosted a lunch in the Lighthouse restaurant in Carvoeiro.

Seventy-eight members and guests attended the event and were welcomed with drinks and canapes on the large terrace.

Due to the lingering Sahara dust clouds, the food was served in the restaurant where, under the expert eye of João, the Maître D’, the Lighthouse staff provided excellent food and wines to the large gathering.

Meeting old and new friends

After lunch, many of the diners moved into the bar, where several members displayed their vocal talents and contributed to the ensuing sing-song with great enthusiasm.

Due to the Covid restrictions, it’s been three years since the Society last celebrated St. Patrick’s Day, and it was very evident that everyone was delighted to meet up with old friends and welcome new members.

Later in the evening, the sky cleared and several people were observed out on the terrace taking photos of the sunset over the ocean, providing a lovely conclusion to a very successful occasion.
