St Luke’s hog roast

Members of St Luke’s Church, part of the St Vincent’s Anglican Chaplaincy, held their annual hog roast at QM Garden Centre in Santa Bárbara de Nexe.

Around 80 people enjoyed the buffet, with funds raised from the evening being donated to the Chaplaincy and the work it undertakes in the Algarve.

The chaplaincy also works with other charities in the region and currently is sponsoring the training of two nurses at Faro University and also supports of Vale Silves community centre which is based in Boliqueime.

Organiser Elspeth Flood said: “It was great to have the help of so many people who, while not necessarily members of the congregation, were happy to support us in our mission.

“We would like to thank Malcolm and Isabel Simpson of QM Garden Centre who, for the third year running, generously allowed us to take over their centre, putting a great deal of time and work into rearranging it especially for us.”
