Squatters discovered following fire in abandoned kindergarten
The bodies of a middle-aged couple who had been living illegally in an abandoned kindergarten in Seixal were found yesterday following a fire that destroyed the ground floor of the building. The cause of the fire is not yet known. Authorities were reportedly not aware the couple, aged 52 and 47, were inside until firefighters came upon their carbonised corpses. According to reports, Gertrudes Costa and António Carvalho had been occupying the kindergarten “for about a year”.
