The ZêzereArts Spring Choral Workshop is being held on March 18 at Museu do Trajo in São Brás de Alportel from 11am to 5pm and is aimed at everyone with an interest in singing, preferably with some experience of singing in a choir.
Led by Brian MacKay, the workshop will begin by focusing on participants’ sound as choral singers, working on posture, breath control and placement.
This will include warm-up techniques and exercises to improve your singing and, just as important, to prepare and protect the voice. Copies of the repertoire to be performed will be provided in advance.
There will be work without a score for part of the day, to develop aural skills and to encourage less experienced singers.
The group will also be divided later in the day to present experienced singers with a more advanced option.
The day will have lots of fun activities, in addition to focusing on vocal technique and the introduction of attractive repertoire. There will also be time to get to know people from other choirs in the area over a picnic lunch.
Advance bookings essential. Fee is €20 per person, payable in advance.
