Spreading the word

THE ALGARVE Tourism Association (ATA) will be representing the region in other European countries throughout January.

ATA will have a stand at the Holiday World tourism fair in Dublin between January 24 and 27. This fair, which includes 780 exhibitors and attracts around 54,000 visitors, is used as a key marketing tool by ATA, which last year registered 799,000 overnight stays from Irish tourists between January and October.

Between January 25 and 27, ATA will also be representing the region at the Danish tourism fair in Copenhagen. ATA is hoping to improve the numbers of visitors from Denmark, who during the first 10 months of 2007 reached around 16,200.

This will be followed by ATA’s participation at the Fitur fair in Madrid between January 30 and February 3.

Earlier this month, members from ATA also had a stand to promote the Algarve at the Vakantiebeurs fair in Utrecht, Holland.

These fairs, which attract thousands of visitors each year, are used by the regional tourism association to attract the main nationalities that visit the region throughout the year.
