British retailing group SportsDirect.com has arrived in the Algarve.
The first store opened on November 26 in the Guia shopping area, located next to Makro.
And a second store will open tomorrow (Saturday) in the Portimão commercial centre, next to Intermarché.
SportsDirect.com is known in the UK as the largest sporting retailer with stocks including sporting brands such as Nike, Adidas, Reebok, Umbro, Fila, plus group brands Everlast, Lonsdale, Dunlop, Slazenger, No Fear and Karrimor.
SportsDirect.com Portugal current specials include the Nike Alphaballer Low trainers for €50, Karrimor polar coats for adults at €24, Nike Downshifter trainers for €35, 3 in 1 winter coat by Karrimor for €38 and more available in store.
A wide product range includes sport clothing for adults and children, a varied selection of footwear and sports accessories and equipment.
SportsDirect.com focuses on wholesale distribution and the sale of company’s owned or licensed brands, and licensing of its brands.
The group has over 500 stores and employs over 11,000 people in the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Slovenia and Portugal, which now has 18 SportsDirect.com store locations throughout the country, including the two Algarve stores.
As part of an ongoing expansion plan, the SportsDirect.com group is planning to open further stores in the 2011/2012 time period, including one in Setúbal, south of Lisbon, on December 10.
Stores will be open seven days a week from 9am until 9pm.
