The Cascade Wellness and Lifestyle Resort opened its doors to the public for the first time in April.

Located against the backdrop of the beautiful Ponta da Piedade landscape,  the €100 million resort features a five star hotel, luxury apartments and villas for sale, three sports academies, a Praceta which has restaurants and bars open to the public, a large communal swimming pool,  and a gym and spa due to be completed in the summer.

Each room has a unique design and the decor is inspired by the five continents, making for a completely unique resort.

Julien Jacquenoud, who is Head of Marketing at Cascade, told the Algarve Resident: “We are trying our very best to keep the authenticity that this particular area has in abundance, and trying to make a luxury resort with fantastic service. We want people to come to Cascade and find exactly what they are looking for.”

Sports academies at the resort have the support of different sporting celebrities.

World-renowned football manager Sven Goran Eriksson is heading the football academy, former tennis world number 1 Stefan Edberg is heading the tennis section and skiing champion Martina Ertl-Renz is heading the recreational activities.

Speaking exclusively to the Algarve Resident, Sven Goran Eriksson said: “I thought it was a brilliant idea as it is a beautiful place with a great location. My main priority here at Cascade is to make sure children make the most of the wonderful facilities and enjoy themselves, as this is a great opportunity for them.

“I got involved 10 years ago, when the project was still an idea, alongside my brother. We could both see the potential in this resort.”

He added: “My main goal is to make a fantastic football academy with great opportunities for the locals and tourists alike. Possibly, after a year or so, we may spot a talent here as well, but that is not one of my main priorities at the moment.”

Julien Jacquenoud added: “The reason why all the celebrities decided to join Cascade is because they were looking for something new, a luxury brand, service and product. They are actively involved and want everything to be done to a high standard.”

The plan for the football academy is to try and get professional European teams to train there during their winter break.

Particular focus is on teams from Scandinavian countries that have harsh, cold winters.

“We hope that our facilities and the warm all-year climate of the Algarve is enough for teams to choose us,” said Julien Jacquenoud.

Meanwhile, the resort is planning advertising campaigns all over the world.

“We have two partners in Germany and the UK for marketing but we also hope to advertise in the rest of Europe, Russia and the USA.”
