The Oceânico Group is this week presenting top sporting fixtures on the Algarve calendar.
Starting on Monday October 12, the Oceânico Bowls Masters Portugal begins at the Amendoeira Bowls Club with the top crown green players from the UK competing in the event.
The Portugal Masters takes off at the Oceânico Victoria course in Vilamoura on Thursday, October 15, and runs until Sunday, October 18 with top players such as Padraig Harrington, Lee Westwood and Rory McKilroy taking part (also read Skip Bandele’s article on page 44). The PGA tournament will be shown live on Sky TV.
Also taking place that week is the John Aldridge Charity Classic, being played on the Oceânico Faldo and Oceânico O’Connor Jnr. courses at the Amendoeira Golf Resort on October 16 and 17.
Oceânico is also officially opening its new Sports Club at the Amendoeira resort on Tuesday, October 13 at 4.30pm with many golfing stars and other sports celebrities appearing.
They will be playing a friendly game around the nine-hole par 3 Oceânico Academy course, commencing at 6.30pm.
Everyone is invited to go along to watch the various sports that will take place around the club’s facilities, which include a full-size football pitch, six tennis courts, two five-a-side football pitches, beach volleyball and a gymnasium. The opening of the Sports Club will be filmed by SKY Sports.
On the crown green, play commences at 10am each day (Monday to Friday) and spectators will be welcome. Monday and Tuesday is a round robin event for the Taylor Bowls Trophy with 16 players going through to a knockout competition on Wednesday, October 14.
On Thursday, the last 32 of the main event play down to the quarter finals. On Friday play begins at 10am. Semi finals commence at 2pm and the final at 4pm, all of which will be filmed and aired on Sky Sports 3 on November 3 and 4.
