English Premiership side Queens Park Rangers were the latest top football team to train at the Oceanico Amendoeira Sports Club near Silves earlier this week.
“We came here because we heard good reports and it was highly recommended,” new manager Mark Hughes said during the Cup weekend sunshine break.
“Amendoeira has lived up to our expectations: they are geared up to look after football teams and the pitch is excellent at the moment.”
Those sentiments were echoed by Irish F.A. Referee Development Group representative Alan Snoddy, whose delegation repeated last year’s stay the previous week.
“100% of the visiting team in 2011 gave top marks to the facilities, accommodation- the whole package,” he said. “It’s absolutely perfect and we were delighted to be back.”
