Last weekend’s 1st Futsal Festival in Lagos was followed by the first ever Basketball Clinic featuring a host of expert coaches and well known players in Albufeira yesterday (Thursday). At the same time, the Stadium of the Algarve was the venue of the 3rd Algarve Mini Foot international pre-and schools tournament boasting 650 players from Portugal and Spain.

This weekend the action moves onto the water with São Bartolomeu de Messines’ Kayak ‘Raid’ scheduled for 9.30am on Sunday while the Pro-Am Iberian Windsurf Circuit visits Alvor beach near Portimão.

Further afield, the Golden Eagle Golf Club in Rio Maior is hosting the 16th Portugal Ladies Golf Open today (Friday), tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday bringing together eight out of ten of Europe’s top Order of Merit players.

Looking further ahead, Antonio Lampreia, winner of the last three Algarve Automobile Club-organised Selenia Trophy stages, should further extend his lead in the off-road racing series at next weekend’s event which will be held around Querença.
