LISBON’S latest town centre retail and office space was launched with a fanfare of glamour last week. Amoreiras Plaza, a development by French group Nexity Portugal, is a spacious, light and airy development combining shops, health facilities and food outlets with competitive office space in the heart of Lisbon.

Although operating since July, the official launch party, hosted by top model Mariza Cruz, included a fashion show modelling the latest autumn/winter fashions available in the centre’s retail stores, as well as kick boxing and t’ai chi displays sponsored and organised by Holmes Place.

The ultramodern building, designed by Portuguese architect Arsénio Raposo Cordeiro, is located to the left of Amoreiras Shopping. The project has a total surface area of 13,000sqm, including

6,600sqm of office space and 3,300sqm of shops and restaurants, as well as 3,000sqm dominated by a new Holmes Place health club.

The commercial space is located on three floors. The first level is devoted to catering outlets. It has a glass roof which can be drawn back in summer to create an open-air dining area. So far, Vitaminas, Sopas, Frango e Companhia, Sandes, Delta Café and new concepts Pasta House and Go Natural have taken space in the food hall.

In all, the glass building has eight floors. The ground floor is made up of shops, including Quebramar, Companhia do Campo, Intimissimi, Bijou Brigitte, Cordeiro & Ramos and Datelli, plus a 600sqm Massimo Dutti store.The second and third floors are devoted to the new breed of Lisbon professional ‘metrosexuals’, who are into health, beauty and wellbeing. It is dominated by British health club group Holmes Place and the Beauty Klinic.

Levels four, five, six and seven are devoted to office space with its own separate reception and parking access. Offices can be divided into units as small as 100sqm or as large as 1,600sqm.
