Maritime police found an abandoned speedboat on Salema beach in Vila do Bispo on March 19.
The speedboat is suspected of having been involved in drug-running.
The commander of the Algarve maritime police, Cruz Martins, said: “The boat has the same features of others we have seized in recent times. I cannot say specifically what the reason for the abandonment of the boat was. But I can say that at the time we found it, our officers were patrolling the area. Perhaps that was why it was abandoned.”
The investigation continues.
