A speech therapist is awaiting trial for the alleged abuse of 35 children, aged between four and seven years old.
The 29-year-old man stands to be prohibited from exercising his profession, if found guilty. Charged with 38 crimes, he is alleged to have abused his victims while their parents sat in a waiting room outside “thinking their children’s speech problems were being dealt with”, writes national tabloid Correio da Manhã.
Arrested in May last year, the therapist has been in jail ever since.
CM suggests he will remain behind bars “until the trial begins”.
If found guilty and condemned to more than three years in prison, the married man with no previous convictions will have his DNA logged onto the national sex-offenders database.
