Specialists call for the vaccination of Portugal’s children

In a complete ‘about-turn’ on news appearing over the last couple of weeks, today’s meeting between the government and Infarmed has seen experts call for the vaccination of Portugal’s children. If parents comply, “we can imagine a winter in which life could approach very much the way it used to be”, Henrique Barros of Porto’s Faculty of Medicine has told the meeting. “If we do not vaccinate children we will have a peak in cases”. Mr Barros’ opinion is that if children are not vaccinated, attention in old people’s homes will once again have to be tightened as “vaccination is not 100% effective”. He seems to be the one ‘principal government expert’ that politicians have been looking for (click here). He has stressed that if correct measures are secured, next winter could be “happy even with the pandemic still among us”, add reports.
