Specialists call for independent review on Portugal’s handling of pandemic

A debate during the national congress of the Ordem dos Médicos (general medical council) – entitled: “What we learnt from Covid-19” – has seen specialists call for an “external, independent” review on Portugal’s handling of the pandemic. “We started well and ended well, but there were aspects less well achieved in the middle”, president of the Ordem’s general assembly Ricardo Mexia conceded, suggesting in a future pandemic, authorities need to be “more proactive, than reactive”.
