Special needs school given cheque by former football star

It was at a special gathering at Boavista Golf near Lagos on February 13 that former English football player John Aldridge handed over a cheque for more than €4,500 to Dra. Maria Eduarda Santos, Director of NECI – Centre for Children with Special Needs in Luz.

Dra Maria Eduarda, well known in the community for her tireless work with special needs children and youths, was visibly moved and thankful of the gesture, and said that the money would be of great help to NECI.

Present at the handing over of the cheque was Boavista’s Golf Director Rodrigo Ulrich, who said that Boavista was proud to be associated with John Aldridge in helping such prestigious charities.

The John Aldridge Charity Golf Classic Tournament, held at Boavista Golf and Spa Resort in October last year, had successfully raised €14,000 for charity, two in the UK, Alder Hey Children’s Charity and the Temple Street Children’s Fund for Health in Ireland, and the local NECI in the Algarve.
