A group of British residents donated three electronic ripple mattresses, which help prevent bedsores, to Barlavento hospital in Portimão on Wednesday morning.
Longstanding British resident Owen Gee told the Algarve Resident: “It was my wife, Val Window, who decided to raise money to buy these much needed mattresses for the hospital when our friend Maureen Moir was admitted in November. Maureen sadly passed away on November 30 after battling cancer for four years.”
The couple raised the funds needed to buy the mattresses with help and donations from Owen Gee’s Solid Gold Sunday show on Kiss FM radio, Style Furnishings, The Maharajah Indian restaurant in Lagos, a donation from Barry Richiens and his wife, the Fools and Horses bar in Lagos and The Duke bar and restaurant in Praia da Luz and the Loulé based health care products company, SulCare.
