Special award

THE REGIONAL gastronomic passport launched in October by the Algarve’s gastronomic brotherhood, Confraria dos Gastrónomos do Algarve, has won the European award for best gastro tourism initiative.

The award was presented at the sixth European Congress of Oenogastronomic Brotherhoods and Associations, held in Trentino, Italy, between November 7 and 9.

The gastronomic passport and accompanying 360-page bilingual guide is aimed at giving visitors more knowledge about the region’s traditional food and can be bought for 10 euros in the Algarve’s tourist information offices.
