A Spar supermarket opened in Praia da Luz earlier this year, offering foreign residents and visitors a little taste of home.
Delfim Soares from Spar told the Algarve Resident: “We sell a variety of English groceries and products, as well as Portuguese food.”
There are a number of sections within the new supermarket, including a bakery, a winery, fresh fruit and vegetables and a take-away counter, offering two fresh dishes of the day as well as roast chicken.
Clients are also able to take a break at the Spar’s café, The Treehouse, which serves a range of hot and cold drinks and snacks.
There is also a newspaper shop within the supermarket, selling a variety of English and Portuguese language publications, tobacco and much more.
“Our aim is to provide our clients with everything that they need with friendly and efficient service,” said Delfim Soares.
Car parking facilities are available for customers, however for those who want to leave the car at home or do not drive, Spar also offers a free ride home.
“Our customers don’t need to book, simply arrive and do their shopping and we will take them home with their bags, free of charge,” said Delfim Soares.
This service is available for people living in the areas of Praia da Luz, Burgau and Almadena.
The supermarket is open everyday from 8.30am until 9pm.
