Spanish radio continues to praise Algarve

The Algarve will once again be featured as a tourist destination on Spanish radio.
As the Resident went to press, four journalists from Cadena Cope, a radio station based in Badajoz, were set to explore the region for two days (September 17-18) to discover the best it has to offer in terms of culture and gastronomy.
In the company of regional tourism boss Desidério Silva, they were expected to visit Alcoutim castle, the historic centre of Cacela Velha and Casa de Odeleite in Castro Marim, as well as meet with local politicians and business people.
Their experiences will then be broadcasted later this month on the ‘A cuerpo de rey’ radio show.
It is not the first time these journalists have visited the Algarve.
They arrived in 2012 when they visited Albufeira. A year later São Brás de Alportel, Olhão and Tavira were the chosen locations, while earlier this year in April they were in Aljezur, Vila do Bispo and Monchique.
For Silva, these kinds of initiatives are a “good form of touristic promotion and can lead to an increase in the number of sleepovers and guests of the Spanish market in the Algarve”.
Between January and June this year, the number of Spanish guests in the Algarve increased a significant 53% compared to the same period in last year.
