Spanish men “miraculously survive” lorry crash that destroyed several cars

A “miracle” was how a witness described an accident involving two Spanish men who survived a horrific lorry crash in the north of Portugal “without a scratch”.

National tabloid Correio da Manhã reports the accident happened on Monday morning (November 14) on the Beira Interior motorway when the truck was transporting 10 cars, worth around €350,000, from Germany to Portugal.

A flat tire apparently caused the lorry to skid and overturn, destroying several of the cars but leaving the two men unharmed.

Traffic on the motorway, which links Fundão and Castelo Novo, was cut off for nearly 10 hours while authorities removed the lorry and the cars, including several Mercedes and Audi vehicles, from the road.

Castelo Branco’s GNR police are investigating.
