A GROUP of space experts have called for a coordinated response to the threat of asteroids hitting the earth.
According to the association of space explorers (ASE), any mission to intercept asteroids heading towards the earth would require global approval.
Members of the ASE believe that a serious threat to the earth could occur in less than 20 years time.
The UN generally agrees that this is an important issue that needs definite action, although what course this should take will be discussed by the UN in February 2009.
